Setting the record straight
published: Wednesday | September 24, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

On Friday, September 5, 2003, you published an article entitled Norman Horne to replace McKenzie in Senate.

In the said article certain allegations were made regarding my former membership and affiliation with the People's National Party. These allegations are false and I would like to set the record totally straight.

1. I was never a member of the PNPYO, as was stated in the said article, nor have I ever had any intention of joining.

2. At no time whilst a member of the PNP, was I in any bid to represent them in South East St. Elizabeth. The facts are, I was being suggested and encouraged by numerous members of the PNP hierarchy to display an interest in the seat, notwithstanding I resigned from the PNP on June 4th 2003, at least two months prior to the selection process.

It is of the utmost importance that you use your publication to correct these misleading and incorrect allegations that you purported as facts in your article.

I am, etc.,

SENATOR NORMAN HORNE

14 Bell Road

Kingston 11
