POLICE ON Thursday morning found another stick of dynamite on the compound of the St. Catherine Adult Correctional centre, Spanish Town.
The dynamite was concealed in a crack in the perimeter wall. It was the 11th stick of dynamite found at the prison in less than a month.
Det. Sgt. Michael Phipps, of the St. Catherine North Division, said the explosive would be sent to the Govern-ment Forsenic Laboratory for testing.
The find came a week after Lt. Col. John Prescod, Commis-sioner of Corrections, said prison authorities had heard that dynamite had been hidden at the prison more than a year now. He then gave instructions for the St. Catherine prison, and the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre Kingston, to be searched for the explosives.
On July 8 two sticks of dynamite were found in an abandon cell on "B" Block at the Spanish Town prison. Two days later, warders found three sticks in the swamp area of the sewage plant at the St. Catherine facility. Five more sticks were later found elsewhere in the institution.
Police said the explosives had been sent to the laboratory but that the results were not yet ready.
