Police briber arrested

WESTERN BUREAU:

A motorist was arrested in Hanover yesterday afternoon for attempting to bribe a policeman.

According to a report from the Constabulary Communication Net-work, around 12:30 in the afternoon the officer, who is attached to the Lucea Police Station, was on highway patrol in the vicinity of Watson Taylor Drive when he stopped a vehicle for exceeding the speed limit.

While the officer was issuing a ticket, the driver attempted to bribe him with $1,000 to overlook the infraction. The driver was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

The identities of the officer and the motorist have not been released.
