THE CLARENDON police were kept busy in the Mitchell Town community yesterday where residents converged on the house of a man they accused of killing a 23-year-old woman.

Dead is Sherese Thompson of Mitchell Town in the parish, while 38-year-old Mark Sulan is in hospital after allegedly attempting to commit suicide.

Reports from the police are that about 7:30 a.m. on Friday, residents stumbled on the partially nude body of Thompson in bushes close to Sulan's house.

The residents later accused Sulan of committing the crime.

Sulan reportedly ran into his house after residents accosted him.

When the police visited the house, Sulan was found with an injury and was taken to the May Pen Hospital.

Operations Officer for Clarendon, Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Patrick Murdock, said that the police had received reports that Thompson had gone missing for several days.

"We were told that she left home to visit relatives elsewhere and was seen in the company of Sulan. So the residents were looking for her when the body was found," DSP Murdock said.

He said the police would be conducting further investigations in the matter.
