The Police Federation is throwing its weight behind the high command in its quest to rid the force of rogue cops.

"We fully support the position that the full weight of the law should be brought against police involved in criminal activities or corruption," Sergeant Raymond Wilson, head of the Police Federation, told The Gleaner yesterday.

"In fact, members of the force involved in corruption or criminality will get no support from the federation. All we will ensure is that the rights of the accused are protected and the rules of natural justice observed," Wilson said.

He added that the federation has spent the past week in meetings in police areas one to three, underscoring and getting the commitment of its delegates to stamp out corruption.

"We have overwhelming support in our stance to tackle this issue and our members are well on board," added Wilson.
