The Paul Bogle Invitational Relays will be held on December 11 at the Paul Bogle High School in St Thomas.
Several high schools - Wolmer's Girls, Yallahs, Titchfield, Fair Prospect, Morant Bay, Donald Quarrie, St Catherine, Port Antonio, St Thomas Technical, Happy Grove, Robert Lightbourne, Seaforth and Glengoffe - are registered to take part.
The start list is available on the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association website.
The seventh staging of the Cooyah Wolmer's Volleyfest tournament serves off at the Wolmer's Girls' School this morning at 10 o'clock.
Eleven teams have confirmed their participation, headed by defending champions Old Harbour High School, Knox College, St Hugh's, Camperdown, Mico College and hosts Wolmer's Girls. Also included in this year's tournament are newcomers - Muschett High, Dinthill Technical, and the University of the West Indies.
The Championship trophy is named in honour of Janet Robertson, the first female coach of the Junior National Volleyball team, who coached the Wolmer's Volleyball team to seven consecutive National Championships from 1990 to 1997.
Registration begins at 9 a.m.
New champions will be crowned after defending champions Hydel were beaten by Mona1-0 in the Bigga/JISA Prep School Henriques Cup knockout comp-etition on Wednesday at UWI.
Last year's runners-up Lannaman's, who beat Quest 1-0, will be Mona's opponents in today's final at the same venue, starting at 3:30 p.m.
Quest and Hydel will meet in the third-place play-off at 2 p.m.
Meanwhile, the league - Alberga Cup - also sponsored by Bigga, will resume with quarter-final round action on Monday, November 30. Mona will face Lannaman's, Trafalgar play Quest, Ardenne take on Belair, Sts Peter & Paul tackle Vaz, Wolmer's entertain St Andrew and Holy Childhood vs Hydel in the games on Monday.
Oracabessa Primary and Ramble Primary both obtained byes to the semi-final round in football, as the James Bond Beach Primary Schools Championships continued on Thursday.
In their scheduled matches at the James Bond Beach Complex in Oracabessa, St Mary, both Galina Primary and Gayle Primary failed to show for their assignment, thus surrendering the points to Oracabessa Primary and Ramble Primary, respectively.
Clark's Town FC's striker Owen Cunningham scored a hat-trick, all in the second half, as he led Breezes Resort and Spa (Rio Bueno) Invitational XI to a commanding 6-2 victory over a select visiting German team in a friendly match played recently at the resort's field.
Oneil Graham also struck a brace for the hotel team in the match, which was played in front of a large crowd of guests and staff.
The match was part of several activities planned for the inaugural celebration at the resort of Oktoberfest, one of the world's largest festivals, which attracts six million visitors annually to Germany alone. "It has been an amazing couple days of fun-filled activities so far," stated Burchell Henry, public relations manager at the resort.
With one round to go in the Middlesex zone of the rural area schools chess championships, Glenmuir High have already secured a place in the next phase scheduled to begin in January 2010.
In rounds 5 and 6 which took place last Thursday at St Catherine High, Glenmuir registered back-to-back 4-0 victories over St Jago A and St Catherine B to end round six on an unassailable 22 points.
Glenmuir, who won the All-island Championship in 2005 and 2007, are favourites to take both the rural and all-island titles when the championship comes to a close in February 2010.
Defending rural area champions, St Catherine High A, drew 2-2 with Clarendon College and defeated St Jago A 3-1 to take their tally to 17 points, needing only 1.5 points from their last match on Friday to automatically advance to the next phase with Glenmuir.

In netball action from the James Bond Beach Primary Schools netball championship, Iona Primary clipped Donnington Primary 5-4 to move to the semi-final round.
Gayle Primary failed to show for their match against Ramble Primary. Earlier in the week, Labyrinth Primary got a bye to the semi-final round next week, as Newstead Primary did not turn up for their game.
Three Hills Primary beat Free Hill Primary 3-1 to book their spot for next week's semi-final.
Defending champions Hydel, Our Lady of the Angels, St Cyprian's and Trafalgar recorded opening semi-final round victories in the Bigga/JISA Prep School Netball Competition on Tuesday.
In the matches played at the Lelia Robinson Courts, Hydel stopped Quest 13-7 while Trafalgar secured a close victory, beating Dunrobin 7-6.
In the day's other games, opening rally champions St Cyprian's edged Bright Beginnings 14-12 in a close encounter, while Our Lady of the Angels narrowly beat Portmore Missionary 11-10.
The St Catherine Division one season kicks off this afternoon with the playing of a double-header at the Spanish Town Prison Oval.
The first game at 2 p.m. is between Portmore rivals, Waterford and promoted Wanderers, while at 4 p.m. McCook's Pen will have their hands full against a confident Royal Lakes team just coming out of the Central St Catherine Division two league.
