What is happening to our country?

Published: Wednesday | November 25, 2009

The Editor, Sir:

I continue to be disturbed at stories like the one in The Gleaner on Monday about no piped water in Bois Content for more than 10 years. I continually ask whether there has been any progress in the provision of social services. What response do the administrators of the NWC have to this story? What explanation will they provide?

Another government division that needs serious restructuring is the Registrar General's Depart-ment. I see Dr Patricia Holness in the news boasting of changes and improvements in the quality of service provided by her agency, but it still requires an entire day out at Twickenham Park to obtain a copy of a birth certificate.

I applied online and was unable to obtain mine and ended up having to travel to Jamaica in person to get the document and was told that my money would not be refunded.

Cease regressing

What is happening to our country? When will Jamaica step into the 21st century and cease regressing?

To all those with the doctorates who benefited from an education paid for by the Government, please, give it one more try and save the country before all is lost.

I am, etc.,
