The team to join defending champions St George's College, Excelsior and St Andrew Technical in the semi-finals will be decided today when the last set of matches are played in Group Two of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup football competition.

Group leaders Waterford High, with six points, will meet fellow Portmore outfit Bridgeport High, who have three points. The match will be played at the Spanish Town Prison Oval. The other match in the group will see Eltham High, 1-0 winners over Bridgeport 1-0 in their last fixture, going up against out of contention Norman Manley High at the Constant Spring Oval. Both matches are slated to start at 3 p.m.

Bridgeport, who last won the title in 2006, will be depending heavily on striker Darren Mattocks, who has scored 18 goals so far this season, along with midfielders Adoah Nickle and Jamiel Hardware.

Lift the team

Bridgeport's coach Anthony Patrick agrees that the team will depend a lot on Mattocks but believes other players can lift the team.

"Other players can lift the team like Jamiel Hardware and Adoah Nickle," Patrick said. "The players know what they have to do, they told me that they put themselves in this position and they will take themselves out of it," he added.

Floyd Coke, coach of Waterford says his team is very confident and will play to a plan.

"The guys are very confident, we will play minute by minute and by situations," Coke said. "We are not going to look for a draw, we are not that type of team but we have a very tight defence and they are going to play a tough game," he added.

Eltham's coach, Vernal Ellis knows his team must win to have any chance of remaining in the competition.

No holiday

"For us to stay in the competition we have to win, so we have no holiday in this competition," Ellis said. "It is work, work, work," he added.

According to manager Paul Hall, Norman Manley do not intend to make it easy for their opponents despite not having any chance of progressing.

"I must admit the team is demotivated but although we are out, we are not going to be letting anybody in," Hall said.
