WESTERN BUREAU:

INFORMATION IS still sketchy on what led to the demise of a Trelawny man who drowned while fishing near SuperClubs' Breezes Resort and Spa in Rio Bueno yesterday.

Dead is Winston Robinson of Rio Bueno.

Anne-Marie Goffe-Pryce, hotel manager at the resort, told The Gleaner that at 5:30 a.m. yesterday, Robinson and his three children were seen by security personnel fishing on the reef. Sometime afterward, Robinson got into difficulty and his children raised an alarm.

He was eventually pulled from the water by a lifeguard, but efforts to resuscitate him failed.

A report was made to the Rio Bueno police and the Trelawny Criminal Investigation Branch. The scene was processed and Robinson's body removed.

The Gleaner made several attempts on Sunday to contact the Constabulary Communication Network liaison for Trelawny for an update on the situation, but calls to the office went unanswered. When contacted, the Rio Bueno police were unable to furnish any new information, as the officer on duty said he was not authorised to reveal any details.
