Erroneous report on NHT

Published: Thursday | November 12, 2009

The Editor, Sir:

Your news report bearing the headline, 'NIF hasn't bungled - Charles', which was published on October 9, alleged that the National Housing Trust (NHT) had sold land to the National Insurance Fund (NIF). The report further speculated that this was done to stave off likely liquidity problems arising from the new policies recently announced by the trust.

Both statements are factually incorrect. To be more specific, I would like to emphasise that the National Housing Trust has not sold any land to the NIF. I am also further emphasising that the NHT's recently announced slate of new policies, will not endanger the organisation's financial standing, as was alleged in the news report.

I am, therefore, requesting that the errors be corrected in the interest of the NHT, and its contributors who could have been misled by the allegations about the trust.

I am, etc.,

Earl Samuels

Managing Director

National Housing Trust
