Trade mission to Eastern Carib
Published: Friday | November 6, 2009
The delegation of 18 will set up displays of products, ranging from food to footwear to furniture and more, in the three countries from November 9 to 13.
Together, the three countries represent a market of 575,000 people, but the delegation, whose displays will be set up in hotels in each country, hopes to garner interest from visiting tourists.
Products will be on display in Barbados on November 9 at the Grand Barbados Beach Resort, in St Lucia on November 11 at The Rex St Lucian and Antigua on November 13 at the Heritage Hotel.
They are selling the mission as a test of the market potential in the three tiny nations, whose populations, combined, are about a fifth of Jamaica's, and explore prospects for growing exports in the region.
Participating companies in the trade mission include Ledermode, Jamaica Fibreglass Products, Crimson Dawn Manufacturing, Heather Laine, Spatial Innovision, Island Dolls, King Pepper Products, Frazer's Ceramics, Sweet Craft Ltd, Patwa Apparel, Jamaica Fashion & Apparel Cluster, Frames Express, Flayva Fashions. The JMA and JEA will represent Goshen Distributors, Mack Chem Chemicals, P.A. Benjamin Manufacturing and the Authentic Jamaican Gift & Craft Cluster.
