Mona business school course earns worldwide recognition

Mona School of Business (MSB), University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, is now a registered education provider under the Project Management Institute (PMI).

This took effect October 5, 2009, and signals that the project management course offered by the MSB is recognised globally for its relevance and quality.

PMI is the world's leading not-for-profit association for the project management profession. It is noted for the advocacy programmes conducted with governments, organisations and industries around the world as organisations embrace sound project management to achieve superior business results.

Pride and humility

Director of the MSB's Professional Services Unit, Dr William Lawrence, says, "It is with great pride and humility that we accept this prestigious certification from the PMI. We, at the MSB, are aware of the tremendous appeal of our course and are pleased that it is now being recognised internationally.

"The training we provide at MSB is one that provides current and future project managers of Jamaica and the wider Caribbean with an education that enables them to work efficiently and effectively, benefiting their companies and the region."

The next MSB project management course, entitled 'Principles and Practices of Project Management', will be offered in the evenings, starting on November 9, 2009.

The MSB is the UWI's business school and is regarded as one of the Caribbean's best in management education, and is in the top 1,000 in the world. It offers graduate programmes, professional and executive management and business-development courses.
