Gunmen tear family apart

A 42-year-old woman and her 12-year-old son were among a number of persons killed violently yesterday.

Angella Longmore and Micah Bernard were brutally murdered in their home in Mona Common, Papine, about 2:30 a.m.

Reports are a group of heavily armed men entered premises at Mona Common and opened fire indiscriminately. One of the gunmen forced open a window to the house occupied by the two and opened fire, killing Longmore on the spot, young Bernard was taken to the University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Half-Way Tree CIB is investigating.

In Wakefield, Trelawny, a 19-year-old man was stabbed to death and his sister injured during a robbery at their home at Congo Town.

Dead is Michael Simpson, while injured is his 21-year-old sister.

Information gathered by the Constabulary Communication Network is that at 2:15 a.m., three men, two armed with guns, the other with a knife, entered their house and demanded money.

The armed hoodlums were given $4,000. However, before leaving the premises they stabbed Simpson and his sister several times. The police were alerted and the injured siblings were taken to the Falmouth Hospital where Simpson was pronounced dead and his sister treated and released.

Id parade pending

The Wakefield police who are investigating have held three suspects in connection with the murder. Their names are being withheld pending an identification parade.

In Clarke's Town, Trelawny, a 23-year-old man of Hyde district was shot dead by unknown assailant/s in his community last night.

Dead is Roswell Carroll, otherwise called 'Bigga'.

Reports are that at 10 p.m., a resident heard explosions and summoned the police. When investigators arrived, they saw Carroll's body with gunshot wounds lying next to his car on the roadway.
