WESTERN BUREAU:

As women in western Jamaica continue to take charge of the male-dominated region, Corporate Connections' Pauline Reid unveiled the first in a series of 'Power Breakfasts' on Tuesday morning at Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa in St James.

In collaboration with the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ), the former president of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and who made history by being named the first woman to sit in that chair, is on a quest to keep corporate Jamaica in the western end of the island abreast of new trends and developments relating to the business sector.

"And so I have embarked on a series of power breakfasts, which will held bi-monthly," she told The Gleaner.

On Tuesday, the business community in western Jamaica was updated about the International Monetary Fund talks that Minister of Finance, Audley Shaw, had on his recent trip to Turkey. Persons who had not yet met the PSOJ president, Joseph Matalon, were hosted in what that organisation terms the 'Chairman's Club Forum'.

Integration and networking

"I hope to provide a medium for the business sector to integrate and network while keeping current and seizing opportunities that might present themselves," Reid said.

Tuesday's breakfast was sponsored by LIME and National Commercial Bank.
