SENATOR DWIGHT Nelson, minister of national security, says he will undergo surgery on Monday. Speaking with The Gleaner from his hospital bed yesterday, Nelson expressed satisfaction with the treatment he had been receiving from specialists, and said they had been very attentive.

On Tuesday, Nelson was referred to the University Hospital of the West Indies by his personal physician, Dr Denise Eldemire-Shearer, after he complained of abdominal pains.

The security minister was then flown to a hospital in Florida on Thursday.

In his absence, Prime Minister Bruce Golding has taken responsibility for the Ministry of National Security.
