Subaru Legacy - 2010

The showroom of the Spanish Town Road-based Kingston Industrial Garage (KIG) was abuzz with excitement last weekend as motor car enthusiasts were treated to the company's latest Subaru offerings: the 2010 Legacy 2.5 IS and 2.5 I.

"They're beautiful driving machines and they handle well," said Dawn Green, KIG's public relations and marketing officer.

"The power ... and drivability are exceptional," she continued.

The 2010 Legacy models, according to the company's press release, are powered by a 170-horsepower, 2.5-litre, four-cylinder Boxer engine and improved crash-worthiness while providing a stiffer platform for a smoother and quieter ride.

"They're cost effective for vehicles in their class," the PR and marketing officer said.

Green explained that the price tag of the 2.5IS and 2.5I ran $6.1 million and $5.9 million, respectively.

"They're good buys," she added.

The standard package of the Legacy includes full-time all-wheel drive; anti-locking braking system; sunroof, electronic parking brake, rust proofing and map-reading spotlight.

The Subaru offers roominess comparable to mainstream mid-size sedans and is 3.2 inches higher and 3.6 inches wider than previous models.

KIG is currently the sole authorised dealer of Subaru, as well as Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover brands in Jamaica. The company is one of the oldest in the island and has been in existence since 1908.
