UTECH focus - Professorial appointments

Prof the Hon Errol Morrison, OJ President, University of Technology (UTech), Jamaica is pleased to announce the following academic appointments resulting from the recent review by the University's Appointments and Promotions Committee.

  • Kent Pantry, CD, QC appointed associate professor

    Kent Pantry, CD, QC, has been appointed associate professor in the Faculty of Law and was confirmed to the position of Dean of the Faculty effective September 1. Since June 2008 Mr Pantry served as interim dean of the faculty and spearheaded the development and subsequent establishment of the faculty in September 2008.

    Pantry joined UTech following a distinguished career in government service which included some 30 years in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions where he served in several senior positions, culminating with his appointment as Director of Public Prosecutions in November 1998. He was made Queen's Counsel in 1995 and was awarded the Order of Distinction, Commander Class (CD) in 2006.

  • Dr Brown-Myrie appointed associate professor

    Dr Eugenie Brown-Myrie, dean of the College of Health Sciences has been appointed to the rank of associate professor. Dr Brown-Myrie joined the University in 1988 as pharmacy coordinator in the Faculty of Health and Applied Science. In 1995 she was made principal lecturer and head of the Health Science Division. In 1998, she was appointed head, School of Pharmacy and Health Science.

    Since 2007 she held the post of dean of the Faculty of Health and Applied Science and most recently had responsibility for the establishment of the new College of Health Sciences.

  • Dr Hodelin appointed associate professor and director, UTech Academy

    Dr Geraldene Hodelin has been appointed to the rank of associate professor and as director of the recently established UTech Academy located in Trelawny.

    Dr Hodelin joined the institution, then College of Arts Science and Technology (CAST) in 1991 as principal lecturer in the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies with special responsibility for coordina-ting the Bachelor of Education degree programme and head of the Home Economics Education programme. Dr Hodelin served as dean of the Faculty from 1999 to 2007.
