It was 'A Gourmet Evening' that brought patrons out to the Heart Foundation of Jamaica's fund-raising event last Friday. Under the patronage of the Honourable Edward Zacca and his wife, Hope, LIME Golf Academy was transformed into a social atmosphere and a food haven for the main purpose of fighting heart disease.
Under the theme, 'Pasta and Wine', participating companies showcased their food delights to the many guests who took turns sampling the fare. For those who had had enough of the pasta and wanted a difference, there were dessert offerings to take advantage of.
Live entertainment
Throughout the event, guests were entertained by recorded and live music from Ernie Smith. He said the event is very dear to him as his wife was once a heart patient. As the featured entertainer, he was responsible for energising the guests throughout the night, belting out both his wide repertoire of original songs and cover versions.
In the midst of the abundance of food, wine servings and entertainment, was a medical station. This came as no surprise since the evening was dedicated to the fight against heart disease. The layout and pleasant medical personnel made patrons feel at ease while being tested. Tests included blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar.
