The celebratory event is slated to take place from October 2-4 and has been dubbed 'The Berlin Salute - A Tribute to our Athletes'.

It will include a reception at Jamaica House, a thanksgiving service at the Portmore Seventh-day Adventist Church in St Catherine, a tour of western Jamaica and a cultural event and concert at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium.

Yesterday, Earl Jarrett, vice-president of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, used the monthly Chairman's Club Forum to remind his colleagues of the Government's request for funding for the celebration.

Jarrett disclosed that so far only $8 million had been committed by the private sector and urged his colleagues to help finance the cause.
