A St Thomas man who had reportedly been struggling with depression and experiencing domestic problems is believed to have hanged himself last Friday.

Dead is Roy Hamilton, a labourer, of Queen Street, Morant Bay.

According to Corporal Owen Blagrove of the Morant Bay police, Hamilton's body was discovered suspended from an ackee tree by a length of rope.

The police corporal said a shirt, a pair of shoes, a hat, cellphone and half-empty beer bottle were found at the root of the tree.

Blagrove said Hamilton, who was about 67 years old, had told persons close to him earlier that day he would hang himself.

It was alleged that Hamilton was seen drinking all day Friday.
