Charles Edwards, coach of defending champions Barbican, expects a very exciting match when his team faces Waterhouse in tomorrow's final of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Sherwin Williams Women's KO competition.
"We are looking forward to this final because our girls are prepared to defend their title and it is going to be very exciting," said Edwards.
Barbican booked their spot in the final with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Santos at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex on Wednesday.
Kerry-Ann Douglas led the way for Barbican with a brace in the 12th and 61st minutes. Janine Dennis scored the other goal for the winners in the 76th minute.
Secure victory
"I think that it was a workmanlike game for us because they came at us really hard in the first half, but eventually we outlasted them to secure the victory," Edwards said.
The Carlton 'Spanner' Dennis-coached Santos ended the match with nine players, as Sadee Lewis and Latoya Daley were both red carded in the 68th and 76th minutes, respectively.
"I think that they also lost their composure because they started to play hard and dirty, and this resulted in them getting two red cards and that really helped us to take the game away from them," Edwards said.
Discipline
Meanwhile, Dennis said his team did not play according to his instructions.
"I think we played well in the first half, but as the game went on we lost out discipline and concentration and everything went to pieces from there on," he said.
Douglas gave Barbican the lead when she rifled home a powerful 25-yard shot past goalkeeper Kadian Edwards. The fleet-footed Douglas got her second goal of the match when she fired home from inside the six-yard box before Dennis completed the scoring for Barbican 15 minutes later.
Meanwhile, Portmore Strikers thrashed Waterhouse 3-0 in their first leg semi-final of the league competition. Iesha Mowatt (15th), Kellian Fearon (59th) and Abigail Walker (38th) were the scorers for the winners.
