Pictured here are the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York before two planes flew into them, marking one of the most horrific acts of terrorism ever inflicted on a superpower.
On September 12, 2001, the entire world grieved with the United States of America, because the day before they had endured something no nation should have to.
Two planes, hijacked by terrorists, slammed into the hub of the country's business exploits - The World Trade Center's Twin Towers.
Both came crashing down leaving a trail of death and pain that lasts until today.
Below, we honour the memory of those who perished and those who live to tell their stories.
