Karl Samuda, another Government member of parliament, has chimed in on what he has been doing in his constituency over the last two years.

He delivered a report on his activities to The Gleaner on August 27, a day before the deadline of the article requested from members of parliament with the exception of Prime Minister Bruce Golding, was due.

The newly implemented Constituency Development Fund has allowed for the completion of a number of projects in the North Central St Andrew Constituency over the last two years.

An important priority within this constituency has been the rebuilding of infrastructure.

Under this programme, the following has been accomplished:

Reconstruction of roads

✔ in Park Lane,

✔ 72 Mannings Hill Road

✔ Logwood Park

✔ and Bogward Drive,

Extensive patching and resurfacing of roads in Armour Heights.

Construction of sidewalks along Charlton Avenue between Short-wood Road and Charlton Ford.

Reconstruction of collapsed walls and inverts of the Constant Spring Gully from Manor Park to Red Hills Road.

The same was done for the Shortwood Gully between Benson Avenue and Grants Pen Road.

Students in the constituency have benefitted from $5 million worth of assistance.

In addition, the Don-mair Homework Centre has been completed - fully equipped with a computer lab.

Assistance

The old and indigent programme has already been supplied with approximately $750,000 worth of groceries.

Two million dollars has also been spent on housing assistance for members of the constituency.

While we are happy at these accomplishments; we were disappointed at some setbacks which include the lack of housing for the old and indigent within the community and the decision to defer the development of the Constant Spring Sports Complex.
