Congrats, Mr Harris

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WRITE this letter to commend the newly-elected president of the Jamaica Agriculture Society (JAS), Glendon Harris, who has defeated a nationally known opponent with powerful agricultural connections.

Harris now has a mammoth task ahead to revamp the farming communities throughout Jamaica on a whole. However, the St James and western Jamaica farmers are especially elated about his promotion as the chief of the JAS organisation. The farmers are expecting that Mr Harris will pay special attention to setting up programmes to improve the general agricultural production in the areas which had taken a nose dive.

This means Mr Harris will have to face his new responsibilities head-on so that during his tenure as president of the JAS the agricultural sector will expand and develop to another level nationally.

I am, etc.,
