Geoffrey Maxwell's return to Waterhouse seems to be bearing immediate fruit as approximately a month into his third stint at the club, he has them in the final of the inaugural Claro-sponsored pre-season KSAFA Champions League.

Playing in the first semi-final of a Tony Spaulding Cup semi-final double-header yesterday, Waterhouse, behind a 110th minute extra-time strike from striker Roberto Fletcher, defeated Premier League returnees August Town 1-0.

In the other semi-final DPL champions Tivoli Gardens beat Boys' Town 4-1. The final is slated for tomorrow at a venue to be announced.

"To come back at Waterhouse and to reach a final in a first attempt is good accomplishment," said Maxwell, who last season was in charge of Portland outfit, St Georges.

Good effort

"We have done very well to reach the final. It's a relatively young group of players with the exception of a few and we have been in training for only two and a half weeks. I am proud of their effort thus far," he added.

Meanwhile, losing coach, Calvert Fitzgerald, whose team plied their trade in the KSAFA Super League last season, but after a one-year hiatus are now back in the big times, said his team had a lot to be proud about.

"Our side played pretty well, both in this match and throughout the competition. It shows that we can be competitive with the big guns like Tivoli, Arnett and Waterhouse. We have nothing to be ashamed about the result today," he added.

August Town had earlier topped their preliminary group ahead of Tivoli and eliminated Arnett Gardens, while Waterhouse finished second behind Boys' Town in their preliminary round group.
