On the world stage, Facey's career started out in 2001 at the World Youth Championships in Debrecen, Hungary, finishing fourth in the 100m. She won the sprint double at the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) in Bridgetown, Barbados, then silver at the World Junior Championships in Kingston, a month later. Earlier, in the Under-17 division, Facey ran 24.14 to win at the CAC in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She took third place in the 200m at the 2009 Jamaican championships, guaranteeing her a place on the Jamaican team for the 2009 World Championships in Athletics. However, she only managed 11.23 seconds, and fourth place, in the 100m and thus failed to qualify for her preferred event.
