Tedious jury selection for Kameka case
Published: Tuesday | July 21, 2009
The empanelling lasted for the entire day but was not completed because there were not enough jurors. The panel was one juror short.
Senior Puisne Judge Marva McIntosh has asked the 11 jurors who were selected to return to court today when additional jurors will be summoned for one more juror to be selected.
The judge remarked that she had never seen a jury selection last so long.
The accused men are 26-year-old Massinissa Adams of Industry Village, 18-year-old Kemar Dawson, of Standpipe, and 21-year-old Rohan Townsend of Irish Town, all in St Andrew.
They are in custody awaiting their trial which is to start tomorrow.
Kameka, 48, was shot dead in Irish Town on November 29, 2007 in an alleged robbery at a house.
