Novlene Williams-Mills, Jamaica's most consistent female 400 metres runner for the past four years, looked a winner with 30 metres to go at the last IAAF World Championships in Osaka, Japan but was denied by the fast-finishing British pair of Christine Ohuruogu (49.61) and Nicola Sanders (49.65). She still clocked a season-best 49.66 seconds for the bronze but may be called on to go even lower to be among the medals next month.
