Barroso set for second term

BRUSSELS (AP):
European Union leaders were set to nominate Jose Manuel Barroso for a second term as president of the bloc's executive body, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said yesterday as heads of state gathered for a two-day summit.
Barroso's bid for another five-year term as president of the European Commission, the EU executive, is one of several items on the summit's agenda.
