THE PRIVATE Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) will elect a new president in late June, its CEO Sandra Glasgow told The Gleaner yesterday.

President Christopher Zacca said recently he would step down after nearly three years in the post.

Glasgow said the organisation would elect a 50-member council next Tuesday. At that time, council members are expected to nominate candidates for a successor to Zacca, a businessman and director of the Sandals Group of Companies.

Council make-up

The PSOJ's council is made up of 25 associations, 20 companies and five individuals. Its more than 200 members will also elect three vice-presidents, a treasurer, secretary and executive committee during next month's election.

The PSOJ was founded in 1976. Some of Jamaica's leading businessmen, including The Gleaner Company's Managing Director Oliver Clarke, GraceKennedy Limited's Douglas Orane and hotelier Gordon 'Butch' Stewart, have served as president.
