Evergreen Shipping Line has resumed its weekly service to Kingston as of yesterday, its local agent, Lannaman and Morris, has announced.

Weekly service to Kingston had been discontinued last year. However, Evergreen has resumed its weekly service under a new service called Caribbean Sea Regional Service/North. This new service will provide all-water connection to Kingston from Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Evergreen previously provided a bi-weekly service to Kingston.

"The fact that the connection is weekly, via Panama, will certainly open the entire world to Jamaican importers and exporters," said Harry Maragh, chairman and chief executive officer of Lannaman and Morris Shipping Limited.

"The line and its local agent for over 30 years have served Jamaica with quality service and we intend to continue into the future," Maragh continued.

He noted that despite the existing world recession, service such as the one being offered by Evergreen will continue to be an attraction to Jamaican clientele.

Shipments are full container load into Kingston and are transshipped by feeder vessels to other Caribbean islands. Cargo is shipped from locations worldwide including Far and Middle East, Asia, Europe, North and South America and the United States.

The line is the unified common trade name for the four shipping companies of the Evergreen Group: Evergreen Marine Corp (Taiwan) Ltd, Italia Marittima SPA, Evergreen Marine (UK) Ltd and Evergreen Marine (Hong Kong) Ltd.

Lannaman and Morris Shipping Company has been representing Evergreen and its subsidiaries since 1973.
