Playing 'monkey face' at Gordon House

I am concerned about the article published in yesterday's paper entitled 'Bragging rights - PNP MPs the butt of Labourite jokes.' Forgive my ignorance, but it seems our MPs have grown quite comfortable in Gordon House and have neglected their judicial responsibilities of actually strategising an economic relief or resolution for the people who are currently feeling the harsh realities of the current recession.

For reasons beyond my comprehension, we have always missed the opportunity to be gracious to one another, to take the high road and humbly accept what has been given to us. We represent the best of Jamaica, Jamaica's brightest minds, yet we act as if we are schoolchildren giving 'monkey face' to each other.

What Jamaica needs now is unity; we need each other. We need to begin working together as an entity for change and economic progress.

Brag on your own time, in your own social circles, but use Parliament to talk about the pressing issues facing Jamaica, land we love.

Politicaladvice for PNP

I would like to give the PNP a bit of advice: Stop using turncoat Labourites to win elections for the party. Both candidates used by the PNP to contest the West Portland constituency are losers.

The PNP has smart and well-educated Comrades in the party who can win elections for the party. Next time use one of the party's own, who speaks its language to contest the next three by-elections that will happen in the near future. We need to start putting people on the ground in the next three constituencies before the court rules.

Poor handling of Air Jamaica

The Editor, Sir:

I find it very interesting that Air Jamaica is adding service to Grenada after pulling out of Atlanta. This is ridiculous.

Many people have commented that they will not be coming home anytime soon because of the inconvenience of stopping in Florida and boarding another flight to Jamaica. I hope they reconsider coming back to Atlanta.

My daughter has travelled with Air Jamaica ever since she was four years. She is now 16 and we are outrage at the horrible treatment of the airline.

I am, etc.,
