When words are not enough

I read with great disbelief and sadness the story of little McKalia who died at the Tucker Irwin Basic School after being crushed by a piano in the school yard. It brought to the fore the anger that I felt only weeks ago when a family member of mine also died while on a school trip.
Both incidents highlight the need for school administrators to be more vigilant with our children.
No words of comfort or support can bring back a child and, for the vast majority of Jamaicans, home-schooling is not practicable. In a society like ours, where the acts of criminals so often claim young lives, we need to take a stand with things that are in our control.
