Road-crash deaths climb - Three dead in St Elizabeth crash, one in St Thomas

In the past two days, separate accidents in two parishes have claimed four lives, bringing the total figure to 13.
For the first nine days of 2008, seven persons have died in road crashes.
Three persons were killed on Thursday in St Elizabeth while, yesterday a middle-aged woman was mowed down by a motor car in St Thomas.
The victims of the St Elizabeth incident have been identified as Rosalee Graham, Craig Bailey and Eric Lewis. Bailey was a member of the Island Special Constabulary Force.
The latest fatalities in St Elizabeth bring to seven the number of persons to have died in road crashes since the start of the year.
Reckless driving
According to police reports, the deaths of the three persons in the southern parish were the result of reckless driving. The crash occurred about 6:15 p.m. on Thursday along the Gilnock main road between a Nissan Sunny motor car and a Toyota Corolla.
It is reported that Bailey, who was the driver of the Corolla, overtook a line of traffic around a corner and collided with the Nissan Sunny motor car. Lewis and Graham were passengers of the Nissan Sunny.
Six other passengers of both vehicles remain hospitalised.
Yesterday, several hours after the St Elizabeth tragedy, Orinthia Allen, 52, died on the spot after being hit along the Duhaney Pen main road in St Thomas.
The driver of the motor vehicle that hit Allen has been taken into custody. His name is being withheld by the police.
Allen's 10-month-old granddaughter, who was with her at the time of the incident, was treated at the Princess Margaret Hospital in St Thomas.
In 2008, 341 persons were killed in road crashes.
