On Saturday, December 27, a section of Eden Gardens, along Lady Musgrave Road in St Andrew, was transformed into party central for Mayor of Kingston Desmond McKenzie.

The affable host stood by the entrance warmly welcoming all his guests to what has become his annual appreciation party.

Even though there was a scheduled eight o'clock start, many guests were fashionably late, as they strolled in leisurely way past the hour. But the early birds weren't left bored, as they enjoyed good conversation and copious libation, while retro music filled the air.

For the official welcome, Mayor McKenzie said his only regret was that there were too many chairs; a clear hint that he wanted everyone to get up and dance the evening away. He encouraged everyone to 'get down and boogie' signalling party time.

No stranger to opening dance floors, Mayor McKenzie started the fancy footwork showing off his agility, thus making way for everyone else who wanted to drop a few legs. Others chose the more secluded lawn area, away from prying eyes.

Among the guests spotted were Mike and Peggy Fennell, Harold Brady, Brenda Cuthbert, Dorothy Lightbourne, Errol Greene, Transport Minister Mike Henry, Cornwall 'Bigga' Ford, Ruby Martin and Cedric McDonald.

Good looks certainly run in the Jackson clan, just look at April Jackson, reigning Miss Jamaica Universe, and her dad, Phillip.
