BEST OF FLAIR

The Lifestyle team - Merry Christmas and a happy New Year from the Lifestyle team (from left): Keisha Shakespeare-Blackmore, Daviot Kelly, Nashauna Drummond, Sacha Walters, Latoya Grindley and Barbara Ellington.
Two thousand and eight was another memorable year for Flair Magazine. We stayed ahead of the competition and had many, many firsts, among them the inaugural First Global Bank Vision Awards, from which folklorist Dr Olive Lewin emerged winner.
In 2008, we finally produced our first Bachelorette issue and our former team member, Yahneake Sterling, tied for first place with Nathelie Taylor.
Our sister writer from South Africa, Dianne Regisford-Gueye, attended the diaspora conference and was such a hit, after we discovered that she was a journalist, we snagged her for our now very popular FE-MAIL TIES (issues about women linked through electronic mail).
Fabulous feedback
The controversial new series, Singular Subjects, has earned fabulous feedback. We had a successful 24th-anniversary issue and look forward to an even better 25th. We embarked on an interesting journey with a teenager who is living with HIV/AIDS and was going through her second pregnancy. Thanks to all those who supported Keisha Shakespeare-Blackmore on this project.
For 2009, we urge you to start sending us your nominees for PHENOMENAL WOMEN, set to coincide with the celebration of International Women's Day in March.
Getting married next year? We have an exciting opportunity (Lies at the Altar) for you to test whether you really should marry each other. And don't forget to send us those wedding pictures for weekly publication.
Have a blessed and safe season and let us know what you think of us at lifestyle@gleanerjm.com
