KANE WATSON was unable to give hosts Jamaica the double in the Under-21 singles category after falling to Anderson Carrington of Barbados 3-2 (11-5, 9-11, 11-4, 5-11, 9-11) on the final day of the Caribbean Region Table Tennis Federation (CRTTF) Championships at the University of Technology (UTech) Auditorium on Friday night.

"I made few tactical errors and the match fell his way," said Watson. "I think that I should have initiated a lot more attacks, which I didn't do, and things just fell apart for me because my execution throughout was also off in the match."

National champion Yvonne Foster gave the hosts their only title of the championships when she won the women's Under-21 singles crown on Wednesday, defeating Ashley Quashie of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) 11-8, 12-10, 11-7.

Meanwhile, Rheann Chung of T&T and Kevin Farley of Barbados won the women's and men's Open singles titles.

Chung outplayed Corinne Baillant of French Guyana 4-0 (11-4, 11-4, 11-2, 11-3) for the women's crown, while Farley outclassed Raymond Delange of Aruba 4-0 (11-3, 11-4, 11-5, 11-6).

The 23-year-old Chung, who was winning her first senior title, was elated with her performance.

"I am very happy to win this tournament," said Chung. "I think it was a very easy tournament for me because a lot of the stronger countries pulled out before the start of the competition."

Farley was also delighted with his efforts.

"It was very easy for me because once I beat Dexter St Louis in the semi-finals, then I knew that the final was going to be very easy for me," he said.

Alex Tertullien of French Guyana won the men's over 40 singles crown by defeating Ruddy Raga of Aruba 3-1 (11-9, 7-11, 12-10, 11-9).
