No profiteering!

The Editor, Sir:
I refer your readers to the fact that when oil price was US$147 per barrel the gas stations were selling gas at J$80 per litre, but now that it is selling for us$45.00 per barrel (about 70 per cent drop), the stations are still selling too high. If they were reasonable, we would be paying about J$25 per litre.
Second, the Jamaica Flour Mills has dropped the price of flour by about 11 per cent yet the price of a loaf of bread remains at J$165 plus.
I submit to you that it is the white- collar criminals who constantly seek to profiteer at the expense of the masses of the people who happen to be poor that is helping to cause the high crime rate. Excessive greed and profiteering is one key cause of crime and until these issues are addressed, no one will live in a peaceful country. Mark my word.
I am, etc.,
