Beres Hammond and Willie Lindo: a winning combination
Lindo
Beres Hammond is on record as saying Willie Lindo is one of the best producers he has worked with. Their association began in the 1970s when Hammond was a struggling singer from St Mary.
After leaving the Zap Pow band, Hammond worked with Lindo, a budding producer/musician. Lindo produced Hammond's well-received Soul Reggae album in 1976.
One Step Ahead and Got To Get Away are two of the hit songs from Soul Reggae.
Soul Reggae was reissued on compact disc by Lindo's Heavy Beat Records in 1993.
Clarendon-born Lindo was a former session guitarist at Dynamic Records.
Beres Hammond made a big comeback in 1985 with the rocking What One Dance Can Do. The song was produced by Willie Lindo for Heavy Beat Records.
Lindo also produced hit songs by Boris Gardner (I Wanna Wake Up With You) and Wayne Wade (I Love You Too Much). He also produced Inseparable, one of Dennis Brown's best albums.
Willie Lindo operates Heavy Beat Records in Miami, Florida.
