Begging bowl

With the election of Senator Obama as president-elect of the United States some Caribbean political leaders are promptly revealing their lack of shame and of national pride. With President-elect Obama hard-pressed to deal with the economic demands of an economy in shambles, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, a broken health-care system, terrorism threats,a decayed national infrastructure, etc. We see political 'leaders' of minuscule Caribbean countries like Spencer of Antigua and Manning of Trinidad making statements about expected US economic assistance which is none other than holding out the usual beggar's bowl. These men fail to accept that the road to national economic advancement is by national effort not by shamefaced beggary.

Blame game

I note with interest the charges and countercharges between the Government and the Opposition of who is to be blamed for the present situation in the country. I even heard the finance minister and the prime minister promising to reveal more corruption. This kind of attitude is sending the wrong signal to the rest of us. Let us stop the blame game and unite to try and solve the problems we now face.

Interesting article by Eddie Seaga on Nov 9, re: Obama, titled: "Obama came, saw, conquered - will he be transformational?" Just one simple error, namely, Obama's mother was not from Hawaii, although Obama was born there. She was from Kansas.

Seeking father

I am a 32-year-old female who would love to find my father. I have never met him, all I know is his name is Tony Kerr. My mother doesn't remember which parish he's from or anything, so I have nothing to go on. The only thing I have of him is his last name. I have been living in NY for the last 23 years and would love to know the avenues I need to take in order to try and find him. As I get older, there are things I don't have for my mother and would love to complete myself by finding him. I've always felt like a part of me is missing. Please help me find my father!
