Thursdaytalk - THE HOTTEST TOPICS ON THE COCKTAIL CIRCUIT

Reshuffle coming?

1. The story made the rounds like wildfire on Tuesday that the prime minister had reshuffled his Cabinet. The news that one particular minister had been relieved of his portfolio was met with glee in some quarters, only to turn to sadness when nightfall came and there was no confirmation from the Big Yard.

Let down

2. Some now hang their heads in shame as they say that the chairman, who was highly touted, let the side down.

Why they don't speak

3. Questions are being asked when the other board will be asked to tender its resignation as the minister and the chairman have not been on speaking terms since March. The word is the chairman considers himself above the minister as his appointment came from higher up the totem pole.

Cost of party

4. Was the cost of the partying $100 million or $150 million?

Modest sum

5. The organisation feels it was gypped after it sought professional appraisal for some of its holdings. Word is the valuator made his appraisal and then turned around and bought up the pieces for the modest sum he said they were worth. Suffice it to say, when other members of the organisation learnt of the transaction, they took umbrage and are now voicing their dissatisfaction.

Mission fuss

6. Word is that many are not only dissatisfied, they are complaining bitterly of the behaviour of their bosses within the mission.

On hold for now

7. Seems like hard times have hit out east, with the buzz around town that at least two high-profile projects have now been suspended.

Borrow for pay

8. Some say the organisation is now a shadow of its former self. Things got so bad under the new management/board that the story is that on more than one occasion, loans were secured just to meet staff payroll.

Fired for 'sinning'

9. The helper was fired for her transgressions. Her sin: giving access to the light and power people to the residence when the bosses were away. The light and power people are doing assessments.
