UNBEATEN FILLY MISS RUTH turned in a bold front-running display to win the $2.5 million Cash Pot 'Only One For Me' Trophy race over 1200 metres at Caymanas Park yesterday.

Contesting race number one in the lucrative Supreme Ventures 2-Y-O series of three, MISS RUTH, running at odds of 1-1 with Shane Ellis riding for owner/breeder Ruth Hussey, won by two lengths from the marginal even-money favourite BRUCEONTHELOOSE under leading all-time jockey Winston Griffiths in a field of 10 native breds.

Unbeaten in three starts

Breaking smartly from the outside post position, MISS RUTH led on the bridle to turn for home (wide) three lengths clear of the Philip Feanny-trained grey colt BRUCEONTHELOOSE.

The bay filly by Western Classic out of the Pat N Jac mare Theia held on well in the last furlong to hold BRUCEONTHELOOSE, on the rails, at bay by two lengths, to be unbeaten in three starts.

Trained by Percy Hussey, MISS RUTH, who was administered Lasix for this race, covered the distance in a new stakes record time of 1:12.3, behind splits of 23.0, 45.4 for the first half mile.

Ellis, who has won all three races aboard MISS RUTH described her as a "very, very good horse" which has the potential to become a champion.

"She can get a distance of ground... you just have to rate her kindly. I had ridden her on two previous occasions and know her very well," Ellis said.

"Judging from her preparation for this race, I wasn't afraid of anything in the field and I am looking forward to riding her again," said the 2000 champion jockey, son of three-time champion jockey, Winston 'Nero' Ellis.

Completes hat-trick

Earlier in the afternoon, the progressive American six-year-old gelding, CHADMAN also completed a hat-trick of wins, thanks to a decisive victory in the graded stakes supporting feature for the None Such Sprint Trophy over 1200 metres.

One of three winners for champion jockey Omar Walker, CHADMAN, running as the 3-5 favourite under top weight of 60.5kg, went in chase of tearaway leader MACHISMO (7-1) at the halfway stage, He disposed of the leader leaving the furlong pole to win by a length from the fast-finishing NASATOL (6-1) in a field of six.
