THE EDITOR, Sir:I DON'T get the impression that the Government and the authorities are concerned about the urgent attention that is needed now to halt the vicious killings of our children. In a small nation like ours, we have 57 children who have been killed since the start of the year.
There were eight days of celebration for the athletes who did well in Beijing. Now, who to tell, we may have killed 57 who would have been our promising athletes in years to come.
What I think should have been done was to take two days from the eight and have two big church services, at the National Stadium and in Sam Sharpe Square, Montego Bay, with church leaders praying for our nation and our children.
Slow in doing
How can we, as a nation, say we are outraged by these attacks on our children and, later down the road, we jump and dance to reggae and dancehall at different venues?
Well, I am outraged that those responsible are not moving as fast as our athletes did in Beijing to stop the slaughter of our children. Act now or we will lose this race.
I am, etc.,
