A word to the wise
published: Monday | October 13, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

AS A nation, we do not want the populace to panic but, clearly, the indicators are out. We are now experiencing a worldwide crisis and our people need to curtail our spending patterns. It is said that to be forewarned is to be forearmed; therefore, as a people, let us get our act together.

Make preparations

Practical approaches are relevant and should be applied to alleviate the recession that we will face. I guess we cannot overemphasise the need to eat what we grow, with less spending on Passa Passa, Weddy Weddy and the likes.

We need to look to God who can truly take us through these turbulent times. Sir, be reminded, this is just the beginning of sorrows. But, alas! We can learn from the story of Joseph in the Bible; begin to make the necessary preparations to stave off famine and depression which loom over our economy.

A word to the wise is sufficient.

I am, etc.,
