Everyday Angels
published: Monday | October 13, 2008

Derived from the word, bachelor, bachelorette is an informal term used for a young unmarried woman who lives alone. (Source: the Web dictionary).

The bachelorettes are here!

They're going to have to mop up in here!

The Flair bachelorettes issue has finally arrived and it will have guys drooling at the sight of the wonderful women we're introducing (some of whom you know and love already). It's been coming and long-awaited (like Christmas), but unlike the Yuletide season, it's already here.

Tall, slender beauties or petite cuties, we roamed and roved to bring you all types (after all, discrimination is a mean word and even meaner frame of mind). We have everyday angels who we know you want to meet.

So here you are, fellows. Wipe your eyes, clean your glasses and adjust your contact lenses because the bachelorettes are here! Enjoy, with our compliments!

Tracy-Ann Thelwell

This 5' 9", 27-year-old beauty is a Digicel's sponsorship and promotions executive.

Type of man you like/find attractive: I honestly don't have a type; I really rely on chemistry; which, for me, is usually hard to ignite; but once the chemistry is right, that person automatically becomes my type.

What do you think is your best asset (physical or otherwise)? I believe my assets are my eyes and my lips. I usually get astonishing reactions about those first.

What do you look for in a man? I look for confidence, ambition and some amount of sex appeal; gotta have that 'swagger', baby!

Biggest turn-off: My biggest turn-off in a man is one who does not take care of his mouth and has poor hygiene.

Ideal first date: Something really laid-back in a comfortable setting, like the movies; nothing too heavy or pressuring for both of us.

How intimate would you get on a first date? All the way, but only if the connection is absolutely perfect; the challenge usually is to get me to go on that first date! Many have tried, few have succeeded.

Last CD/book you bought (or read/listened to): Just purchased Duane Stephenson's album - August Town! Such remarkable talent is really worth me driving all around town one Saturday to find the last copy at Music Mart. I would have been devastated if I hadn't found it that day.

Twenty-seven years old, 5'9", and is a public relations practitioner.

Type of man you like/find attractive: A man with a great smile. Ideally, he should be taller than me, but I don't mind if he's a little bit shorter (not much). He must have a great personality and a toned body would be an asset.

What do you think is your best asset (physical or otherwise)? My best asset is my brain, lol, but physically, it's my height.

What do you look for in a man? I look for the level of maturity. I like a man who is mature, intelligent, goal oriented, adventurous and has a great sense of humour.

Biggest turn off: Poor hygiene

Ideal first date: My ideal first date would be one filled with intellectual conversations over a delicious meal.

How intimate would you get on a first date?: I would permit a brief hug and a kiss on the cheek.

Last CD/book you bought (or read and listened to): The last book I read was The Alchemist, in August. I would recommend it to everyone, it was a great read. I've read it twice.

editor's note

At last - the bachelorettes!

After three years of cajoling, we finally got the women to agree to an issue dedicated to showcasing them in the same way we do for our bachelor issue. For some reason, the fairer sex got the impression that they would be deemed to be on the man hunt. So we set up a panel and decided to target only women between ages 25-35. And the submissions came rolling in. Even some mothers sent us the goods on their daughters.

So, enjoy the first of what we hope will become our annual Flair bachelorette production. We are not putting these beautiful, well educated and intelligent women on the market. Lord knows, they do not need any help. This issue is simply a celebration of some of our best women and if you missed the cut, next year is just around the corner.

Many thanks to Daviot Kelly and Robert Lalah who coordinated the issue.
