The Volkswagen Tiguan, a compact crossover SUV in the mould of the CR-V and RAV4, is now being offered by Motor Sales.
Tiguan sports a choice of a 200 hp 2.0-litre gas engine or a two-litre diesel power plant that can be tuned to either 140 or 170 hp. It seats five and comes in three trim levels.
Trend and Fun, the entry level, comes with six airbags, ESP, trailer stabilisation integrated with the ESP (for vehicles with trailer hitch), child-seat anchorages on the rear bench and electronic parking brake with auto-hold function.
Among its other features are radio with integrated CD player, semi-automatic climate control system, four electric window lifts, electrically adjustable and heated outside mirrors, Multifunctional Display Plus (trip computer), remote control of central locking and various storage compartments and bins.
Next up is the Sport & Style, which has 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome roof rail, chrome strips on front bumper and surrounding side window lining, tinted windows, sport seats with height-adjustable lumbar supports, centre console with folding and height-adjustable armrests.
Also in its armoury are folding front passenger seat, drawers under the front seats, folding table and storage pockets on the backs of the front seats, leather for steering wheel, gear-shift knob and gear-shift boot, fabric seats, cruise control system and tyre-pressure indicators.
The Track & Field
The third category is the Track & Field, an off-road-oriented package that features a redesigned front end with a 28-degree approach angle, hill-descent assistant, modified driving pedal characteristics, and EDS (where electronic differential locks are activated at the slightest slip).
The Tiguan Track & Field is also equipped with special ABS programming (which aids with braking on loose substrates), hill-ascent assistance, auto tranny gear pre-selection (including optimal engine braking effect), 16-inch alloy wheels, tyre-pressure indicator, roof rails, engine underbody protection, compass display and special door impact guard strips.
Rounding out its lengthy credits are 'comfort seats', featuring adjustable lumbar support, which is high bolstered.
Prices range from the base $3.6 million to a high of $5.4 million.
