FOXBOROUGH,
Massachusetts (CMC):
Jamaicans Andy Williams and Dane Richards struck US Major League Soccer (MLS) goals Saturday night but both were unable to achieve victory with their teams.
Williams blasted a fabulous goal for Real Salt Lake (RSL) in a 2-2 draw with New England Revolution, while Richards got the only goal for the New York Red Bulls as they tumbled to a 3-1 loss to Toronto FC.
It took dramatic late goals from US internationals Taylor Twellman and Steve Ralston to deny RSL a victory at the Revs' Gillette Stadium after Williams and Javier Morales had sent visiting RSL 2-0 up 17 minutes from the end.
Poor clearance
Morales opened the scoring in the 13th minute when he collected a poor clearance from goalkeeper Matt Reis and scored with a well placed high shot.
Morales played provider in RSL's second goal after the Grenada international Shalrie Joseph gave the ball away in midfield for the Revs.
Receiving a flicked pass from Morales in the centre, 'Bomber' Williams ran on from wide on the right and unleashed a ferocious one-time right-footer from 15 yards that flashed past Reis into the roof of the net.
But a two-goal burst within six minutes of RSL going 2-0 up grabbed a share of the points for the Revs.
Ralston shot past Nick Rimando in the 77th minute and Twellman got the equalizer two minutes later.
Williams got a red card in stoppage time for a challenge on Jay Heaps.
The Red Bulls were unable to make home advantage count at Giants Stadium in spite of a 49th minute goal for Richards.
Low shot
Toronto went into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead through Chad Barrett's 27th minute goal.
The speedy Richards got his goal in the 49th minute when he ran onto Juan Pablo Angel's headed pass and placed a low shot past Chris Sutton in Toronto's goal.
Toronto, with Jamaican defender Tyrone Marshall in their line-up, went 2-1 up when Barrett got a second goal in the 65th minute and Abdus Ibrahim made the three points sure for Toronto with an 86th minute goal.
Williams and Richards lifted the list of Jamaican scorers this week in the MLS to three.
Jamaican Ryan Johnson had scored for visiting San Jose Earthquakes in a 1-1 draw with FC Dallas on Thursday night.
