The Editor, Sir:
In the wake of its 2006 report on Sandals Whitehouse, suggesting poor oversight by state agencies and possible corruption in the management of the hotel project, the Office of the Contractor General (OCG) came under heavy criticism from elements in the People's National Party government, its surrogates and apologists.
Same officer
In an article in The Sunday Herald of October 1, 2006, Garnett Roper argued that the OCG had become counterproductive and should be scrapped.
Two years later with a change of government, said Rev Roper has written a letter published in The Gleaner of today's date (October 6), commending the OCG headed by the same officer for its challenge to the present government on some its policies regarding contracts with state or quasi state agencies.
"The contractor general should maintain his vigilance," wrote Rev Roper.
Perhaps Rev Comrade Roper has been struck by a celestial light as did Paul on the road to Damascus or he is just being transparently hypocritical.
Whatever the case, it's time to pray.
I am, etc.,
