WESTERN BUREAU:
CENTRAL FLAMES continued to advertise themselves as one of the teams to beat in the Western Basketball Association Fruta/Oasis Purified Water Development League on Sunday, when they scored a 77-68 win over Vipers in their Group One fixture at the Montego Bay Cricket Club courts.
By virtue of their win, their fifth in six games, Central Flames have taken over leadership of the zone with 11 points. With the point earned from their defeat, Vipers are in joint second place with Blazers on 10 points in the group, which is being contested by six teams.
In a game in which Central Flames won the first two quarters 16-9 and 25-12 and lost the third and fourth quarters 21-17 and 26-19, Craig Dorman and Cecil Cole were their outstanding players, with 21 and 19 points, respectively.
Despite their loss, the Vipers aggregation got high-quality service from Demar McGreggor, who scored a game-high 25 points, and Gavin Forbes, who played brilliantly for his 23. While he did not figure prominently among the points, Omar Clarke also played well for the Vipers.
