All about Libra

Precious angels, the age of Libra is upon us, and suffice to say, the celebrations are under way; full speed ahead on the party train!

Belated birthday wishes to the absolutely fab Sandrene Weichenberger, who celebrated her birthday on September 25. The charming Yolan Harrison celebrated on the 26th. Pioneering cultural icon, folklorist, historian, and sociologist the oh-so-charming Dr Olive Lewin celebrated her very special day at the beginning of the week on Sunday, September 28.

The following day, Joan Crooks Lee of the happening Events Place in the fab city of Montego Bay celebrated hers. And then on Tuesday, it was all about the oh-so-gorgeous diva of radio and elocutionist Paula-Anne Porter-Jones celebrating her birthday.

Sunday, October 5, will see United States Ambassador Brenda LaGrange Johnson celebrating her birthday. No word yet, as to the how, but the buzz is it will be an intimate do. Also on Sunday, the also-fab-and-charming Angeline Harris will mark a very special milestone as she celebrates her birthday.

The party, however, is slated for Saturday, and y'all know that her mom, the indomitable Ruth Hussey, does not throw anything but simply marvellous dos, so this is the hot and fab party ticket in town.

Come next Tuesday, one of the nation's leading jurists, Christopher Bovell, will take time out of his demanding schedule to break bread and share libations with family and friends on the occasion of his birthday, and his wife, fashion bella donna Michelle Bovell is promising a social treat of the tres elegant order.

The fabulous Emma Scanlan of the charity celebrates on the 7th; the gorgeous Dr Kim Brown Ciurlino celebrates on the 9th and former Pulse modelling sensation Raquel Rhino, now Gowdie, will be in the throes of her birthday celebration next week Friday.

And we did say it was going to be an October to remember. Well, it's all set to be just that and leading the way in this regard is Jamaica's undisputed entertainment Mecca, the always buzzing Hedonism III Resort near Salem and Runaway Bay in St Ann.

Talk about hot, well my dears, the entertainment and promotional teams of the fab resort just turned up the hotness-meter on October and the resort is all set to sizzle like a frying pan on fire throughout the entire month of October!

Beginning with the Girls of Jamaica calendar shoot that gets under way this weekend, that will see a number of the island's leading beauties and hopefuls vie for the right to grace the pages of the celebrated calendar.

Following right on the heels of the shoot, come next Monday, it will be all about the hunks of the Caribbean and the Diaspora as leading entertainers, models, actors, dancers and performers from all over descend on the resort for the annual Mr Caribbean International competition.

We are talking a beefcake stew here as some of the hottest men of the region will line up and strut their stuff for an international panel of judges for the bragging rights and modelling contracts that the winner bags.

Now, come heroes weekend, it will be all about the annual Hedonism III Resort Jerkfest and Merritone Family Reunion - a simply fab weekend of fabulous music and mouth-wateringly delicious jerk, as the resort's executive chef Mark Cole and his team of very able chefs, cooks and support staff from the hotel, as well as the island's leading jerk chefs, house and showcase the jerk festival in a three-day and night celebration of the nation's heritage and cultural traditions.

And then there will be the bikini shoot and pageant from October 25 to November 1; Miss Tabota International pageant and contest October 28 through November 4 and the mother of all Halloween parties - Hedoween on October 31 that will see the Caribbean's hottest masquerade ball and party that will not only knock your socks off, it will thrill and mesmerise the neophyte to Halloween celebrations!

And speaking of fine resorts, next weekend it's all about Couples Negril and Couples Swept Away (Negril), as it's been 10 years since that fine hotel first opened its doors to the international vacationing public and the parties are on next weekend to commemorate the anniversaries! First there will be the much anticipated spectacular showcase and bonanza at Couples Swept Away on Friday night and then on Saturday, the partying will move to Couples Negril for the grand dame of celebrations. More definitely anon, as it promises to be a fab weekend in the west!

Then my dears, congrats are in order and extended to celebrated chef Darren Lee and his fab wife Xanu Lee, on the arrival of their son Sai Anthony Warren Lee last Thursday. Dears, mother and son are doing just fine and dad is simply ecstatic.

And remember y'all, we are our brothers' keepers.
